Back 2 School

August 11, 2020

While going back to school might be a bit different this year, this time of year usually includes a few purchases to get ready for school. Whether you’re a student, parent, or teacher, let us educate you on a few ways to cut costs for an economical start to the school year.

Plan for Back to School Expenses

Just like how you plan a class schedule, you need to plan for how much you want to spend on back to school goods. Set a realistic expectation of what you may spend by making a list of what’s needed and their prices. Things might add up fast, so it’s best to prepare your wallet (and yourself) for that hefty transaction.

Check What You Already Have

No need to go buying things you already have. Make sure you take inventory of supplies you already own such as pens, pencils, notebooks, and more. Once you have a clear idea of how much you really need, you can hit the store with confidence.

Go Generic for Supplies

Do you really need that name-brand box of pens? Name-brand items are more expensive than generic items. Consider saving a few dollars by purchasing generic supplies. Why? When all is said and done, generic goods are mostly the same as their name-brand counterparts. Save your money for the important items that have to be name brand.

Coupons. Sales. Repeat

Yes, coupons are still cool because they save you money! The back to school rush might be a whirlwind, but having coupons in hand can take the edge off. Search a store’s back to school edition flyer or check their website for nifty savings. Combine that with shopping during a sale and you are in the green.

E-learning? E-Z

Some may be diving into at-home learning for the first time this year. In that case, a computer is probably a must-have to make this work. If you are searching for a new device, do your research. Not all computers are created equal and you need to read up on what you need out of a computer. Shop sales, but buy the computer that will last. You want the most bang for your buck.

The 2020 school year may be daunting, but be prepared with these easy back to school savings tips. Crush the school year, not your wallet.
