How often have you encountered a money management question as an adult and thought to yourself, “It would have been nice to have learned about that in school”? If this has happened to you, or if you have teenage kids in your life then I have an education tool for you. The AFSA (American Financial Services Association) Education Foundation has created an interactive money management curriculum aimed to assist high school and college age students understand the fundamentals of money. It’s called MoneySKILL® and guess what? It’s FREE!

MoneySKILL® is designed to be used as all or part of a course in economics, business, math, social studies or wherever personal finances are taught. Students can access the modules in the classroom, home, or wherever an internet connection is available. It covers, income, expenses, assets, liabilities and risk management. It uses a life simulation module that asked student to project their own financial life expectancies regarding employment, housing, transportation, education marriage, family and retirement. These simulations allow students to incorporate the MoneySKILL® personal finance concepts into everyday lives, giving them skills that will last a lifetime. Imagine the advantage your child could have armed with this knowledge!
